WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TRAINING

Just a reminder this Wednesday 1st February is the beginning of Term 1 Tennis. For those of you who attended Wednesday night sessions last term please turn up at the same times.

SATURDAY MORNING GROUP LESSONS

Saturday morning group lessons will not commence again until Saturday 18th February due to the courts being booked the next 2 weekends for Tournaments.
Those of you who usually attend a Saturday morning are able to attend a Wednesday afternoon session for the next 2 weeks to compensate for this until Saturday sessions recommence on the 18th Feb.
Attendance times:
5-9 years Wednesday at 3.30-4.30
10years and over Wednesday 5 - 6pm.

Tennis Friday Twilight Interclub

Hello ,

Twilight Interclub starts on Friday 17th February.

There is a notice on the board in the clubrooms for the twilight interclub tennis.

Those club members wishing to play or those who have a team they wish to enter please write all names and contact ph numbers on the notice that is on the noticeboard downstairs at the clubrooms.

We will make up teams and have a pool of reserve players for each division.

We need to know names by 4th February 2012 as teams need to be advised by 9th February.

Otumoetai Junior Tennis Tournament UPDATE

Hi ,

DAVIS CUP VOLUNTEERS:
Further to the email request for helpers for the Davis Cup Tennis yesterday, please remember this is also the same weekend as our Junior Tournament if you are thinking of volunteering.

In addition, I have had a few enquiries from parents with regards to the Otumoetai Tournament. For those of you that are new to tournaments, please note the following:

AGE GROUPS: 10s = 10years and under, 12s = 12years and under etc.

GAME SCORING: It is recommended that participants are confident on scoring as children are required to umpire their own games, 10s play first to 9 games, whilst the older age groups play best of 3 sets – super tie break in the 3rd set if required.

DOUBLES PARTNERS: Partners for doubles do not have to belong to the same tennis club. They do however have to be entered in the same age group for singles. Eg: A child who plays in the 10s for singles cannot play up in the 12s for doubles.

We hope to see lots of our younger juniors involved.

PARENT HELPERS
We also still desperately need offers of parent help over the weekend, we have 4 junior committee members who unfortunately are not able to run this tournament alone and parent help will considerably contribute to the success of this tournament.

VOLUNTEERS STILL WANTED FOR DAVIS CUP
• Ushers and general helpers required for the Davis Cup at the TECT Arena, Baypark, Mount Maunganui to be held on 10-12th February 2012
• Three strong men also required to assist with the laying of the special Tennis Court for the Tie on 2nd – 4th February.
• Ball Children will be required and tennis players between the ages of 11-15 are wanted especially those with experience. Ball children will be provided with Hugo Bos Clothing that can be kept after the event.

Otumoetai Tennis Juniors-Tournament Reminder

Hope you are enjoying the summer break although it has been very wet. It should be now time for some real summer weather to coincide with all the upcoming junior tournaments in our region.
A reminder of these tournaments if you haven't already entered:

• Gumboot.co.nz Junior Classic Papamoa Tournament 4th,5th and 6th February

Please support your club, it would be great to see as many of our junior members involved in our 1st Junior Tournament on the 11th and 12th February and we have some great prizes!

Hello ,

All courts are being used for a WOP Seniors (Veteran's) tournament until approximately 1.00pm on Friday and Saturday.

If the courts look to be empty for a short period please respect the tournament and politely ask at the control room if any courts are available, and do not be offended if requested not to use a court next to tournament game.
