2014-15 OTC Club Championships

Hello Junior Members,

The Club Championships for 2014-15 will start with the Mixed Doubles on Sat/Sun, 21st/22nd Feb, starting at 1 pm. We will try to complete play on Sat, but MAY not be able to, depending on numbers of entries. A sign-up sheet will be placed on the Club Bulletin Board next Tuesday morning, or you can enter by e-mailing/calling Fred at clubcaptain@otumoetaitennis.co.nz or 544-5088.

The Men's/Ladies Doubles will be on Sat/Sun, 14th/15th March, while the Men's/Ladies Singles dates are to be confirmed.

Junior players of suitable ability are eligible and encouraged to enter these competitions - if you have a question about whether this is for you, please ask Jason or contact Fred.

Senior Club Day Tennis/Courts Availability

Hello ,

Tomorrow, 31st Jan, the Otumoetai/Mount team will be hosting the last round-robin match in the Men's Regional Premier competition. Senior Club Day activities will be as usual, with Regional Premier match using the Plexicushion courts. There will be no free courts for casual play until after 4:00 pm.

Next weekend, Senior Club Day will be on Sunday, 8th February, as the courts will be full on Friday/Saturday, 6th/7th February, with the Waitangi Weekend Tournament competition. Again, there will be no free courts for casual play on Friday/Saturday next weekend until after 4:30-5:00 pm.

OTC Juniors: Post Xmas Interclub

Hi Junior Members,

This is scheduled to begin on February 28 and last for 4 weeks, finishing on March 21.

A signup sheet is on the Junior Notice Board. I will need to know by February 9.

So far, the following players have indicated that they want to participate ...
Cosmo Hopkinson, Luke Stevens, Lewis Hope, Tristan Eiselen, Oliver Gardiner, Nick Freeman, Daniel Shanahan, John Moon, Kevin Moon, Zachary Graham, James Thomas, Daniel Weiss, Arthur Moon, Alex Freeman, Naomi Thomas, Nicole Bell, Taylor Graham.

What it involves ...

*Interclub involves a commitment of 4 Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 1:00 playing singles and doubles.
*Each team will need at least 4 players per week to play.
*Travel could be as far away as Katikati or Te Puke.
*Each team needs a Team Manager and I will provide guidance/assistance throughout the competition for Team Managers. It is not difficult.
*If you know you will not be available every week, I need to know this. Why? So we can make sure we have enough players on each team roster.
*For our 8-10 year old players with little or no competition experience, there is a Hotshots (formally Gallaghers) grade. The kids will play singles and doubles and matches are first to 6 games. Green dot balls (softer for better control) are used.

So, if you want to give Interclub a go but are not sure, please either talk to Jason or myself ...

2015 Friday Night Twilight Mixed Doubles Interclub

Hello ,

The 2015 Friday Night Twilight Mixed Doubles Interclub competition will start on Friday, 13th February 2015 and run until approximately the end of April. The competition format is a men's and ladies doubles, followed by 2 mixed doubles. Team rosters may contain up to 8 players, but only 4 can play in a match. Teams entries are due to Waikato-Bays by 6th February.

A sign-up sheet has been posted on the Seniors Bulletin Board in the downstairs clubhouse foyer. All interested players should sign up on this sheet, call Fred on 544-5088, or e-mail Fred at clubcaptain@otumoetaitennis.co.nz, as soon as possible, but no later than 3rd February so we have time to organize teams and get the rosters submitted.

Players that wish to form their own team will be accommodated to the maximum extent possible, but all interested players will be able to play. Older Juniors of suitable ability are eligible to play in this competition if they wish.
