OTC Juniors: Club Champs Singles Draws

Hi ,

I have just published the club champs singles draws for Sunday April 3, 2016.

Remember to bring your lunch and snacks for the day.

Players are not to leave the venue without speaking first to either Fred or myself.

For the BS12s and BS14s, there may be a bit of waiting between matches because 1 draw has 9 players and the other 10. Patience is required. Perhaps you may want to bring some games to play ... I have seen some kids at tournaments with packs of cards etc. Homework perhaps?

I am going to be running the Hotshots and 10s near court 9 and Fred all other draws from the control room.

For those NOT playing at 9:00am, the scheduled time for your first match is an approximate time as we do not know how long the 1st round of matches will take to play.

IMPORTANT: Remember Daylight Savings ends on Sunday morning.

OTC Junors: OTC Junior Club Champs - Reminder

Hope you had a good Easter break!

A reminder that our Junior Club Champs Singles will be played this Sunday. Entries close tomorrow Wednesday at 8pm.

I have updated the tournament website to reflect entries received.

This is the link to our club champs on the Tournaments website.

I would please like each of you to go to your name on the PLAYERS tab and click on it (this will take you less than 2 minutes):

1. Check that you are entered in the correct events. ie. Singles and Doubles OR Singles only OR Doubles only.

2. Check that you are entered in the correct age group.

NOTE: If your age is 11 on April 30, you will play in the U12 age group.
NOTE: If your age is 13 on April 30, you will play in the U14 age group.
NOTE: If your age is 15 on April 30, you will play in the U16/18 age group.
NOTE: If you are playing doubles with a partner who is in the age group above yours, you are playing in the higher age group.

3. Check that you have been assigned the correct doubles partner (if you advised this). Else a doubles partner will be assigned to you (I haven't done this yet).

4. If your name does not appear, you are not entered which means you will need to contact me before Wednesday March 30 at 8pm to enter.

If you are entered incorrectly, please let me know ASAP by return email to juniors@otumoetaitennis.co.nz

There is no need to tell me if you are entered correctly.

Bear in mind that the Singles are this Sunday April 3 and the Doubles Sunday April 10.

I will update the website with the draws on Friday.

Senior Club Champs Men's & Ladies Singles

Hello Junior,

The 2015-16 Club Champs Men's & Ladies Singles will be played on Friday evening/Saturday, 8th/9th April 2016. Friday evening play will be necessary if the entry numbers so require, i.e., to preclude having to play more than 3 matches on Saturday. Players will be advised if they need to play Friday evening once entries close on Wednesday, 6th April.
Both competitive and social grades are available; please be sure to sign up in the category you wish to play in. A signup sheet will be posted on the Senior Bulletin Board in the downstairs lobby at the club this evening.
Juniors of suitable ability are eligible to play in this competition if they wish. If Juniors have questions about whether they are ready for this competition, please see Julia or Jason.
Remember - entry fee of $5.

OTC Juniors: Club Champs Information

Hi ,

Your easiest option to find out information on our Junior Club Champs and whether you are entered and what events you are entered in is to check the tournament website.

You can do this by:
1. Going to the URL below:

2. Going to the Juniors page of our tennis club website.

3. Using your web browser ... search for the Tennis NZ website ... go to the COMPETE tab ... click on the TOURNAMENTS DRAWS & RESULTS tab and search for 2016 Otumoetai Tennis Club Junior Club Champs.

Once you are at our club champs ...
Click on your name under the PLAYERS tab to see what you are entered in. ie. Singles only, Doubles only, Double and Singles AND the age group. If your name does not appear, you are not entered. Entries I receive are entered as soon as practicable. If you are listed in the incorrect age group, I will need to know this.

OTC Juniors: Club Champs Singles Postponed

The club champs singles that we were going to play today Sunday March 20, 2016 has been postponed and rescheduled to Sunday April 3, 2016. This is the date we were going to play the doubles club champs.

Current Singles entries not available to play on Sunday April 3, 2016 should let me know ASAP so I can remove you from the draw.

I will open the singles draws for further entries. Entries close Wednesday March 30, 2016 at 8pm.

OTC Juniors: OTC Junior Club Champs - Singles

If you are NOT entered in our OTC Junior Club Champs Singles, please disregard this email.

I have created the draws and scheduled the first round of matches. See DRAWS tab of our tournament using the URL provided.

The first round of matches will start at 9:00am. If you are not playing at 9:00am, please be at the club by 9:30. (Except Caelan and Lakhan).

There will be a briefing at 8:45am.

Tournament Control: I am going to run the matches for our Hotshots grade and XS10s on courts 9 and 10. I will set up a table on the grass between the club house and those courts for these matches. Fred is going to run the matches for all other draws from the club house control room.

Warm up for each match is maximum 5 minutes.

Match winners will report the scores by returning the score boards and balls to either myself or Fred.

Weather: My weather APP is telling me that the weather for Sunday will be cloudy with a little rain. Only if the weather on the day looks worse will I postpone. If I need to amend the start times or postpone the event, I will let you know by email and post a message on the tournament website. I intend to be at the venue by 8:00am. The telephone number at the club is 576 5759.

You will need to bring your lunch and other snacks with you.

No one is to leave the venue without informing either myself or Fred.

Prize giving for this event is at our end of season OTC Junior Prize Giving which is scheduled for Saturday April 16, 2016.

Please bear in mind that we are running our club champs like a tournament which means there will be some waiting between matches.

Match Format:
All ages EXCEPT Hotshots and 10s:
You will play best of 2 sets with a super-tie breaker in lieu of a third set if required.

10s:
You will play first to 9 games with a tie-breaker at 8 games all.
You will be playing with green dot tennis balls.

Hotshots:
You will play first to 6 games.
You will be playing with green dot tennis balls.
We will have a helper on each court for you but you will still be making the line calls yourselves.
For your first serve: please try to serve over-arm for your first serve and from the baseline.
For your second serve: you can choose to serve underarm and from the service line.
Parents: I would appreciate your help with being on-court helpers.

Deuces:
ALL ages, normal deuces.
