The Otumoetai Tennis Club has received a formal complaint regarding parent interference during a recent Junior Interclub Match and I have been asked by Sue Clarke WBOP Tennis to remind all parents / interclub players of the following:
Guidelines for Managers / Parents
• Please ensure games start on time in order for all matches to be completed by 1pm.
• Doubles are played first followed by singles matches.
• Each team must nominate a team manager on the day who must be present throughout. This manager is the only person permitted to enter the court area. All other parents must sit outside of the immediate court area
• In case of a dispute, the appointed managers will be required to adjudicate.
• No parent shall umpire a match involving their own child.
Match Etiquette
• Players must have 2 balls before starting to serve
• Don't hit faults back to server if possible
• Return balls directly to server quickly between points.
• Server responsible to call score out before starting next point
• No Interference with players from non- players or parents.
• Call quickly and loudly in or out- straight after ball bounces- No call - BALL IS IN.
• Swearing , Sledging and racquet throwing will not be tolerated
On a separate note, Good Luck to all players in your semi finals and finals matches over the next 2 weeks.
Regards Karen Bree
(Junior Coordinator)
